Built with VoiceOver at the center

Accessible Live Radar

See where rain and storms are, hear clear explanations, or explore the map by touch with VoiceOver. Live Radar helps you understand more than the colors on the map.

Included with WeatherGuardian Plus

VoiceOver Touch Explorer

Touch the map. Hear the weather.

Tap or move a finger across the map to hear about the weather at that spot, including nearby storms, their movement, and any official warnings.

Use a three-finger VoiceOver swipe to move the map. Scrub left, right, then left with two fingers to leave Touch Explorer. Other controls are hidden while you explore, helping you avoid accidental taps.

Radar Coach

Make sense of the storm.

Radar Coach explains rain, storms, and warning areas in everyday language. When the information is available, it also describes signs of hail, strong winds, or rotating storms. These signs are separate from official warnings.

Radar Coach and Touch Explorer are included with Plus and work without AI. Basic AI can help you change radar views, while Advanced AI lets you ask questions about the map.

Advanced Radar

Take a closer look.

Choose different views of the radar, such as rainfall or wind movement. More detailed views include reflectivity, which shows how strongly rain or hail reflects the radar signal, and velocity, which shows movement toward or away from the radar. Play the animation to see how the weather has changed.

With Advanced Radar on, Touch Explorer describes the view you have selected at the spot you touch. Check the time shown to see how recent it is. Advanced Radar is a radar setting; Advanced AI is the optional conversation mode.

Read the storm. Explore by touch.

Frequently asked questions

Accessible Live Radar FAQ

Is Live Radar included with the free app?

Live Radar, Radar Coach, and VoiceOver Touch Explorer are included with WeatherGuardian Plus. Basic AI voice navigation is free, but it does not unlock paid radar features. Pricing and any eligible subscription trial are shown by the App Store before purchase.

How do I explore radar with VoiceOver?

Enable VoiceOver Touch Explorer in Live Radar. Tap or drag one finger across the full-screen map to hear information for that point. Use three-finger VoiceOver swipes to move the map, and scrub left-right-left with two fingers to exit. Normal controls are hidden during Touch Explorer to prevent accidental navigation.

What is the difference between normal radar and Advanced Radar?

Normal radar gives you an overview of storms, where they are moving, and any official warnings. Advanced Radar lets you choose a more detailed view, such as rainfall or wind movement. Touch Explorer describes the weather at the spot you touch using the view you selected. Advanced Radar is a radar setting, separate from Advanced AI — Conversation.

What does Radar Coach explain?

Radar Coach explains rain, storms, and official warning areas in everyday language. It uses National Weather Service radar and warning information to describe signs of hail, strong winds, or rotating storms when available. A sign of rotation does not confirm a tornado, and the app’s explanation is not an official warning.

Do I need Advanced AI to use accessible radar?

No. With Plus, Radar Coach and VoiceOver Touch Explorer work without turning on AI. Advanced AI adds the option to ask questions about the map. It uses a screenshot taken while the app is open, along with available weather information, to help answer you.

Why can radar information be delayed or unavailable?

Radar needs an internet connection and time to receive and prepare new weather information. The map and its descriptions may update at different times, and some information may be unavailable. Check the time shown on the radar. An empty map or missing storm detail does not mean a location is safe.

Are radar descriptions official warnings?

No. The app clearly labels official National Weather Service warnings separately from its own radar explanations. Those explanations may be incomplete or delayed. Follow official warnings, NOAA Weather Radio, Wireless Emergency Alerts, and instructions from public safety officials.

Keep exploring.
